Ghana President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said his government is determined to ensure that incidents of gas explosion do not occur again.
While expressing his deepest condolences to bereaved families of last Saturday night’s explosion via his twitter handle, the president said he had dispatched his Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to the tragedy scene on Sunday morning.
‘‘Government is resolved, now more than ever, to ensure such an incident does not occur again” he said.
He also said he was devastated on hearing news of the gas explosion at Atomic Junction, a suburb of Accra.
“The news of last night’s gas explosion at Atomic Junction, resulting in the loss of lives and injuries to several others, has left me devastated,” he added.

About six people perished following the gas explosion that occurred on Saturday while others sustained various degrees of injury.
The injured Africanews has learnt are receiving treatment at the West African nation’s 37 military hospital.
The tragedy scene remain cordoned off with major roads in the area closed to traffic until Monday, said Ghana’s Deputy Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.
‘‘Currently an overnight police and emergency service providers have cordon off the entire place and managed to subdue the fire within about the first 3 hours.And the ambulance services assisted us to move all the injured persons to a number of medical facilities round.’‘
Investigations into the cause of the explosion will begin immediately.
